Not a great choice for the frequent traveler – material quality is poor, November 28, 2013

    Pros:

*Stylish looking – the red accents make the bag ‘pop’ and differentiate this from the normal just another black bag on the market
*The bag holds a lot of stuff – not in the most organized way – but you can get A LOT of items in this bag without it even looking stuffed or expanded

    Cons:

*The quality of the nylon is not that great – after two trips the bad had scratches and minor tares on it, and I am NOT rough on my bags. The fabric also feels cheap.
*The soft touch leather-like accents scratch very easily
*Strap not removable – one side of the strap is latched on to a metal ring, the other side is just sown into the bag and after 5 trips is already starting to look like it is going to tear and fall off at the seam
*Strap is not comfortable – padding for shoulder is almost non-existent
*Laptop padding and overall padding is very minimal – compared to other bags – the padding is almost non-existent
*Interior is cheap – the interior material feels like it will tear in 2 minutes and the pocket spacing is in some cases functional and in some cases not.
*Zippers are cheap and there are now integrated loops for a lock in case you desire such a feature

Overall, I really wanted to like this bag. It looks nice (though a bit sporty – if you work in a more conservative office culture, you may want something that is not as sporty looking) and holds a lot of stuff. However, the quality is not there. I travel 4-5 times per week on flights and trust me – this bag cannot handle frequent travel.

Note – I have owned many solo bags – and they used to be top notch. The “new” solo seems to be making much cheaper products. The fabric is not as good as it used to be and the overall material quality is poor. Granted – this is not a high-end bag, but even at this price-point, one should expect some better quality. If you need an inexpensive bag and don’t travel much and need to hold a lot of stuff – this may work for you. If you travel frequently and your bag spends any time in an overhead bin or under the seat in front of you – move on…

This review is from: Solo Executive 17.3″ Laptop Slim Brief, Black, STL140-4 (Personal Computers)
The case my work gave me for the laptop they supply was kind of crappy…and I didn’t need it to be so bulky (since I use a backpack for a personal computer I carry around too)…so this was a perfect size and a great buy on sale.

Very good quality and it is working well…but I do wish it had a carrying strap…or at least connectors so if I wanted to spend the money to buy a strap it could connect to it. When traveling and dragging luggage it would be nice to be able to throw a strap over my shoulder…
