Being a care giver I was happy to get a chance to try out this Pembrook Backpack for 87 year old mother. The bag is made out of nylon, it has loops that go over the handle bars and are adjustable in length. The bag has a pocket on the inside that is secured for your keys, checkbook , credit cards , cell phone (I have a big note 4) that fits in with room to spare for other things. That pocket also zips up. The bag itself has plenty of room. I could put my tablet, book, charger , hair brush , paper work water bottle, snacks, , blue tooth speaker and other things. If I wanted to haul it around my 17 inch lap top in this bag. It has a strap of Velcro that keeps the bag closed. This bag made my trip easier, it was durable, and it doesn’t hurt the pocket book. I did receive this product for a discounted price for my honest and unbiased opinion.

I’ve been looking for something like this for 7 years now. I use a power wheelchair, which doesn’t have the handlebars for the straps to attach to, but that isn’t a problem because you can hang it from the back of the arms or the headrest bar. I don’t do either because I don’t find it to be a practical use. For one, it’s behind me and there is no comfortable way for me to reach it or what’s in it. Since I’m mostly alone, being able to reach it is necessary. I also don’t like the idea of keeping something valuable, like my wallet, behind me where anyone can walk up and mess with it. That being said, it would work in that position very well for a caregiver.
On my chair, I placed it at the front of the seat with the bottom of the bag resting on the footplate. The straps I placed around the seat supports and tightened down. (see image) This keeps it in front where I can easily access it, yet behind my feet so it’s out of the way. It works for me, I am not paralyzed so I can move my legs and feet out of the way easily. (I have to use the chair because my hips will not stay in socket, it’s genetic.) I feel much more comfortable having my wallet, medicine, important papers, etc. in it in this position. I tried hanging it from the arm, but it is large enough that it rubs the wheel. In the front position, it does not rub wheels or interfere in any way with normal operation.
The bag itself is well made of a material that will hold up to the occasional weather abuse. It is large enough to hold my fairly large ‘medical binder’ (you have to have one when you have a rare genetic defect, just to keep up with what’s what) along with entertainment for long waiting room visits. It will easily hold the binder, wallet, medicine, knitting, a book or two, etc. The top opens fully, with a flap over that secures with a long strip of velcro. The straps for securing it are adjustable and use a squeeze type latch making it easy to remove it without having to readjust it each time.
Overall, I wish I had found this a long time ago! It has made life in a chair a lot less complicated.
