I always hesitate when spending this kind of money on a name brand, wondering if the quality is worth it. In this case, it is.
I purchased this pack for my 7 year old 2nd grader. I originally purchased the VB backpack (the smaller one) which was also beautiful but way too small for practical use. The campus backpack is perfect. It is very well made and surprisingly sturdy given the material is fabric and not nylon or traditional backpack material. I expected it to be flimsy but it is not. It has a nice structure to it.
This bag is very roomy. My daughter carries everyday inside the main compartment 2 folders, a jacket or sweater, her lunch bag, a snack bag, one or 2 library books plus whatever project she brings home. There is still plenty of room for larger, older school age books. All forms of water bottles fit easily into the elastic side drink pockets. There is another smaller yet roomy compartment on front that she uses to carry a dry box (for phone & medicine).
The straps are adjustable and stay adjusted.
She rides her bike or scooter to/from school about a mile round trip every day. The pack has been through numerous wipeouts and survived unscathed. It’s also been in the rain and still looks like the day we got it. She is tall and strong for her age, and she says it is comfortable and easy to carry. But I think it would be too large for a girl any smaller than her so I’d only recommend a girl size 10 and up. May be too big or heavy for a younger or frailer little girl.
My daughter is over the moon with her trendy pack and I’m over the moon that it is as functional and practical as it is beautiful.

Vera Bradley products are red hot with the middle and high school set, and for good reason. This company makes a top knotch product that is well worth the money. It is machine washable, feels quite durable, and the zippers and stitching are well done. There is such a selection of patterns that anyone can find something to reflect their own personal tastes. Pricing is consistent, so you can buy with confidence that you won’t experience “buyer’s remorse” later. My daughter has used a Jansport backpack for the last three years, and I suspect the durability of this campus backpack to surpass even that.
