I’ve used other Case Logic cases and bags, which were excellent products, so I expected the KAC101 Kontrast Action-Cam Case to be equally good, and it is. As advertised, it’s ideal for storing and carrying the small action cameras and accessories. But it’s certainly not limited to that – it’s a very nice padded case that will hold a compact camera, small electronic devices, or any other small items. With a hard base and well-padded sides and top, the case gives good protection in a lightweight (12½ ounces) package. With the flexibility to use or rearrange the padded dividers, and a zippered mini-case with a mesh top inside, the case can be easily customized to suit your own purposes.

The action-cam case is as well made as any of the other Case Logic products that I’ve used, and I expect it to last as long.

The Kontrast came to my attention by chance and I do not have a GoPro or other action camera – but this is the kind of protective case I’ve been looking for, for awhile.

I have a piQx Xcanex Portable Book and Document Scanner. Portable is kind of the point, but I don’t like a sensitive piece of equipment potentially squished in a laptop bag. Guess where it fits like a dream?

Same for my peripheral stuff for a trip: headphones, portable charger, Bluetooth speaker…everything I might carry with my Kindle or phone can co-exist pretty well in this case. The Kindle, which would prove a space hog here, has its own otterbox for protection. But I can pack my Philips goLITE BLU Light Therapy Device alongside all of the above, excepting the speaker. (It’s cylindrical. A smaller “brick” speaker would likely work fine.)

The bright green padded dividers that you see in the pics are modular and can be reconfigured to near-customized specs. And all is held together (and held to the lining of the case) with velcro. I wouldn’t want to change the configuration constantly, but the lining seems pretty heavy duty and able to stand up to velcro’s abrasiveness.

Good padding and a tough waterproof base may be overkill for those of us who aren’t out in the field using robots to get live shots of perplexed lions at the hunt. But I suppose that if the situation called for it, I would dare to take this to the beach.

There’s a big zipper pocket and several tiny ones, so your USB cables and whatnot can be securely stowed.

Case Logic brands this as an action cam case, but if you have ANY smaller electronics that need this kind of protection (and you’d prefer to consolidate where smaller items are concerned), the the KAC101 definitely deserves a second glance.

This is a review of the Case Logic KAC101 Kontrast Action-Cam Case.

I think Case Logic is making a mistake marketing this just for Action-Cameras. In fact, this is a very versatile case that can be used in many different ways, including action cameras.

The case size is convenient, measuring about 11 inches x 7 inches and stands about 4″ tall. It has a carry handle but unfortunately no shoulder strap.

A double-pull zipper gives easy access to the inside. The inside top has a large zippered compartment suitable for cables or whatever fits. There are also two small pockets with velcro closures at the top to hold something small like memory cards. Then there is another larger pocket that is open at the top to hold other smaller objects like a USB cable or lens cover.

The main compartment is basically a blank canvas that you can configure to your liking using the green pieces. Each piece has velcro tabs at the end that stick to the inside walls of the compartment. So you can make your own sections the size you need to hold what you need to hold.

There is also a removable zippered pouch with nylon mesh top. The mesh allows you to see what’s inside while preventing the contents from spilling out inside the case.

The bottom of the case has a very protective rubber bottom that extends up around all sides. This will prevent water infiltration from the bottom as well as prevent wear and tear to the nylon if it weren’t there.

A very nice padded case to protect whatever you put in it. I just wish it had a shoulder strap.
