I could not tilt this bag while rolling, April 28, 2013

I really wanted to like this bag. I needed a swivel-wheel bag that has easy access to its outer pockets to hold everything you might use while on a plane, train, etc. And there are not that many to choose from.

This bag has a fair amount of room inside, and I like the fact that the straps holding the top to the bottom can unsnap, allowing the bag to open completely flat once you are in a hotel room and unpacking — unlike a briefcase or notebook travel satchel. However, this is more of a suitcase, and less of a business or travel bag.

    Issues are…
    1) THE ONE I RECEIVED could not be tilted while rolling.
    YOUR EXPERIENCE MAY PROVE OTHERWISE.
The swivel wheels turn very smoothly, but walking through a busy airport or trying to move quickly does not always lend itself well to the upright bag position. In fact, in New York’s Penn Station I was stopped and chastised for pushing this bag out in front of (or beside) me. For some reason, they want you to drag it behind you. The upright position is okay on a casual stroll, and this bag moves quite freely. When there are repetitive bumps in the floor (say, with concrete sidewalk separations) this can create an irritation. Your default position is to lean the bag and pull it behind you — I could not do that with this bag because the encapsulated wheels then hit the pavement or rug and no longer rolled. I am 5′-10″, and of normal stature. I do not have overly long or short arms.

    2) There is an internal slot / divider for your laptop. But it’s so poofy as to deny easy access to the rest of that storage area when trying to insert or remove other articles. The center of this compartment puffs out at least 3 to 4 inches and you have to nearly open the bag completely to insert anything else past the blockage it creates. There is a Velcro strap to tie that compartment “closed”, but it’s too long — with no adjustment.

The outer compartments hold a bit of these travel oddities, for sure — but the lower section on the outside barely holds a magazine. You have to tuck the upper end of the magazine underneath the flap at the top — thereby, restricting easy removal.

    So…
This is an okay smaller suitcase for a two-day trip.
This is NOT a great travel bag offering easy access to anything.
In my experience, this can ONLY operate as a rolling bag in its full upright position, but it DOES roll the smoothest of any I’ve tried. Some people are reporting they have had absolutely no problems with this. It could, possibly, be that my unit had wheel shrouds that were incorrectly aligned — I could not, however, detect such an issue.

The quality was excellent, in my opinion.

This little carry-on is just what I wanted. The wheels allow for 360 degree movement as well as traditional 2-wheel pulling if needed. It is almost fun to wheel this suitcase down the airplane aisle. I wish it had straps to secure the items within the suitcase. The inside pocket holds my MacBook Air and the outside pocket holds my iPad. I am very happy with this purchase. I have to be careful on unlevel ground as the suitcase wants to roll away with the incline.

As a carry on bag, this luggage is great. Although it looks small, it actually carries plenty for a 2-3 day business trip. No issues with being able to carry this one on board!
