    Time-Saving, But Expensive and Limited Sizing/Use, January 15, 2015

Absolutely brilliant idea, but expensive. Totally worth it if you are going to “keep them in the family” and re-use them every Christmas, but quite a spendy addition to a regular present, unless it’s someone very special and you feel like an extra $15+ splurge on their gift. (And they still may toss it!) These were a LIFESAVER when I had reached the end of my wrapping rope a few days before Christmas, and Primed a whole bunch of them to save my sanity. (As opposed to just “bagging” everything, which I was over doing, as well.) These are QUICK in a pinch, and that’s what makes them great. Quick as in–it only takes a couple minutes per gift to cinch up and tie. Cons: they are synthetic and look it in person; the colors are a bit more gaudy and not as elegant in person as they look on the site, including this one, which is more neon in person (although the Christmas ones are bright, fun and festive–steer clear of the Merlot, it is a weird muddy color); sometimes the pulling that is required to close them makes the edges of the gift poke through the fabric; the ribbons tend to wrinkle and crease and not lie pretty and flat like in the images (especially the non-satin ribbons, which twist and are a mess); and sometimes the hole that you cinch it with doesn’t “close” all the way and some of the present can be seen. (They’re also not as fun or easy for kids to open, as wrapping paper. Especially toddlers, so I saved it for the hubby, etc.) The other con is that the flexibility of the sizes is very limited: the Small only fits a small jewelry box, the Medium a single DVD or small book, the Large maybe a small soccer ball or a few books max, and the XL will fit a medium sized board game or a large coffee table book–but nothing bigger. Meaning, you can’t stick a babydoll box or a blender (not sure where they got that one) in it, or most of the medium sized toys out there today. The sizing is very limited, and they would be wise to create even bigger sizes–but with the nature of the design, it gets “harder” to close the bigger it is, which undermines the convenience aspect–which, let’s not kid ourselves–is the whole point. LOL. Which is why I still give it 4 “Eco for my mind” stars. Because in that sense, in the midst of holiday madness–they are a savior!

I love Lily Wrap for making hard-to-wrap packages absolutely gorgeous! It was convenient to have on hand this year when I had to wrap mixing bowls for my mom, and the wrapping was done in a flash.
