I traveled domestically and internationally as a teen… then I had a Navy career. Airline travel and Naval Warship deployments, so I have run the gamut of travel conditions and bags. My personal criteria are a) durability (which includes stitching quality), b) pocket size/placement (having too few or even too many can be a hassle), and c) carrying comfort and versatility (casual versus formal).

    A) Durability – the stitching isn’t pristine in terms of finishing, having cut quite a few dangling threads and minor tufts, but all the lines are straight and at the necessary stress points. Zippers and the two magnet clasps on the front pockets are smooth action, the two button claps on the main closure quite firm. Cross body strap is a heavy cotton strap, and is NON-REMOVABLE. So adding a shoulder cushion will have to be one of those wrap around styles. Exterior PU leather accent is decent, but a touch of stickiness is present (I live in a high humidity region, so this is one of those qualities I can quickly tell – how well will the PU react to humid conditions). Top handle is very secure with dual grommets on each side.

Interior is a pressed cotton fiber, and no, it will not “tear”. Think dryer sheets, but thicker and smoother feeling. All interior pockets are of the same cotton fiber – I really love that center divider pocket… which leads me to…

    b) Pocket Placement / Sizing: Not that many total pockets, but having traveled with bags on that “too many, too useless” pocket scale, this does hit a nice balance. The interior divider pocket is bang on for 10.1″ tablets or smaller, even with a thick case. The other interior pockets include two open ones and a zippered one that will hold a 5.5″ smartphone. The interior can also be zipped closed with a semi-closed top. The rear zipper pocket is on the somewhat shallow end, but a good place for things like charging cords, microfiber cloths, that sort of thing. Front two pockets are decently sized, dime store paperback novel dimensions. They are semi-open as well, with very small vent openings at each of the bottom corners and semi-closed with the magnetic clasps. This is where I would put papers and, of course, paperback novels. All the whole, good storage space and pocket organization.

    c) Carrying handle, being a completely flat strap, isn’t “melt in your hand” comfort. However, the cross body strap is very well sized. I am 6′, 175lbs, and with the strap fully extended, the bag rested comfortably just below my hip bone. This is actually a excellent thing, as (and I will be honest here) internationally manufactured bags have a tendency to not keep in mind the average Westerner size. 😉

All in all, a very solid 4 stars. I would wish for a bit deeper pocket on the rear and a removable cross body strap/more comfortable carry grip for those more formal occasions when you travel in a suit. The general look is professional enough, but the cross body strap will sort of look out of place. Heh.

    Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
It took me while to write this review. I received my bag early January . I was very pleased with the look and quality of the bag. I did not notice any quality deficits. I was initially disappointed about the straps being so thin. I did not realize that under the straps where snaps. It took me far longer than I care to admit to locate the snaps but it does speak to how well they blend into the overall look of th bag. My one big complaint is the size. It is a challenge to get my paperwork into this bag, it will fit a standard sheet of paper if you are careful to place the papers in the pockets. For me a messenger bag should not need so much attention to put objects into it. The back pocket is almost useless I wanted to but my kindle fire in that pocket for easy access during my train commute but it will not fit without of risk of falling or being grabbed by someone. The front pockets are under the flap so again of access is an issue. If the dimensions where an inch bigger in length and height it would really be a terrific bag. Despite the size issue it is a great looking bag for a very reasonable price. If they ever make a larger version I would readily buy it but in current dimension I would pass.
