As a holster case for your DSLR, this product has a lot going for it. Strong straps make for a snug fit and an array of pockets gives you plenty of places to store spare batteries, filters, etc. Also, the expandable bottom allows for the storage of a long lens, as well as the option of shrinking the bag if you’re only packing a 35mm for the day. Most importantly, the pack is extremely well padded. In my experience, cameras in a belt holster can take quite a beating, especially when you are shooting on the move. With this case, you can carry with confidence, your camera protected from harm.

That said, I have two caveats. Firstly, the top zipper can catch a bit when trying to open all the way. It isn’t a big problem, save if you are trying to take a shot where a second can make the difference. Second, as a holster the bag doesn’t have the room of my trusty backpack camera bag (which I love). Yes, this bag allows the option of traveling lighter, but the trade off is that it doesn’t allow for sufficient room for several lenses. If you know what you need to carry for the day, this is a good choice. If you’re someone who likes to carry several lenses, I’d look elsewhere.

I’m an amateur photographer, so I don’t carry around multiple lenses (yet), and I’m really just looking for a compact bag that will let me tote my DSLR and basic lens around while I’m on hikes. This bag is great for that. I very much like the vertical orientation; it lets me keep the bag closer to my body, and despite the obvious bulk needed to contain most DSLR cameras, the vertical orientation makes this case feel less bulky than other, horizontal-carry cases that I’ve used. It comes with an adjustable strap that let me carry across my chest, which made my camera even easier to tote around. The bottom unzips and extends downward another three inches, so it can accommodate longer telephoto lenses.

If you need to carry multiple lenses and flashes, this bag isn’t going to do it for you. There’s not a lot of extra space; it’s basically built just for your camera body and a single lens. But if you’d like a sturdily constructed, somewhat slim case for easy photography trips, I’d definitely recommend this bag.
