This is a very nice, albeit very somewhat thin, case. It would be best used for a short day-trip, or it would make a fairly good carry-on if you can cram everything else into your second carry-on, or if you’ve checked luggage. It is really designed to be lean and light, and it does a pretty good job at that.

It has a fairly roomy zippered compartment on the very front for any quick-access items; airplane tickets will fit nicely in there, as it pretty much runs the full length of the bag. The outermost (nearest the front) top zippered compartment has slots for pens, and a few small, open compartments for things like credit cards, etc.

The main section has one sleeve for a laptop, which is decently padded. Another sleeve is right against the laptop compartment, and is meant to hold your tablet. What I don’t like is that this tablet sleeve has absolutely no padding on the front side at all; it is just thin material. You would definitely not want to store your tablet in there if it does not already in a protective case.

Inside the main compartment on the other side is another thin sleeve that purportedly holds your charger, cables, etc. The problem is, if you put all that in there, it will be pressed right up against your tablet. Again, if your tablet is properly protected on its own, you should be okay.

I’ve added a photo that hopefully gives you a better idea of what I am trying to explain. In it, you will see my Dell Latitude e7240 12.5″ laptop (silver), and my 8.9″ Kindle HDX (in its protective case, I might add). Both fit with nicely with room to spare. The interior of the padded laptop compartment is roughly 11″ wide and 13″ deep.

The exterior also has two holders on each side for water bottles, or whatever you want to put in there, with elastic tops and netted material for the pockets.

The straps are decently padded, but not what I would call overly comfortable…I would rate them at about a 7 on a 1-10 scale.

Overall, I think this bag is a decent choice if you want to travel light and don’t plan to cram in everything under the sun. It seems well made…time will tell.

Thanks for reading….if things change I will update the review, and I am happy to answer any questions you may have.

This review is from: Case Logic WMBP-115 15.6-Inch Laptop and Tablet Backpack (Anthracite) (Personal Computers)
Update: Closing to 2 years of heavy use and travelling with this backpack, I stand corrected. I did not expect it to last this long, but its current state is dreadful and I highly doubt I’ll be able to use it while travelling anymore. The bag still looks ok overall, but it is clearly worn out now. I have to mention that after a year of use it stopped squeaking, and the internal compartments are as good as new. I have been looking for a proper replacement for this backpack that would hold my laptop and still have enough space while maintaining a smart look but I cannot seem to find the right one. Most backpacks that fit my rather large laptop look like hiking backpacks which are huge, and I certainly don’t need that much space for a laptop backpack. I’m still holding onto it, and at this point I am actually considering getting another one.

    Original Review:

I have had this backpack for around a month now. It is not that much of a long duration but it was enough for me to build an opinion on it. First, the quality is not as superb as it seems. Yes, it seems durable; although I received my bag with many loose threads, its material is good and well made. However, I do not think it will last me more than a year. I am a heavy user. I travel a lot and always find myself in need for a backpack. This was not the best option for me as it turned out the size is nowhere as big as it seemed to be. I have big 15.6 laptops (Sager NP8265/Clevo P150SM and MSI GT60), both of which are gaming laptops and neither of them fit well inside. I always feel that I’ll scratch its corners every time I try to close the zippers considering that a good portion of the laptop sticks out of the protective compartment (I have to mention they are very good, the zippers I mean). Another point is that there is nothing to hold the laptop in its place. I don’t mind that as I always carry around enough stuff such that the laptop can never wobble around. Also, being a college student in need to carry books around, the thickest book I can have while carrying the laptop and its adapter is around 3 cm thick.

One of the things that really annoys me about this backpack is the fact that it squeaks if you carry it while fully loading it. I have to hold it on one shoulder in order to minimize the squeaking by holding it with my elbow, but it really defeats the purpose of carrying a backpack. Overall I’m not very satisfied with this bag probably because I set some high expectations from Case Logic. This is not a very practical backpack, but if you’re not the kind of person that carries around too many things and your laptop is 35cm thick or less you are likely to enjoy this backpack. It has a very sleek design and looks smart.

    To sum things up:
    Advantages:
    -Price range
    -Looks good and fits well
    -material quality

    Disadvantages:
    -durability
    -quality control
-squeaking sound when carrying heavy items
-does not fit big 15.6″ laptops

The best way I can describe the Case Logic Case is small. It does have an internal pocket for a 15.6 inch laptop and a pocket for an iPad sized tablet. The one thing I really don’t like about the table pocket is the lack of a velcro closure to keep it in place. The laptop pocket doesn’t have a closure either however, a laptop of that size is less likely to move around.

The large internal pocket isn’t big enough for students, high school or college, to carry a reasonable amount of book and binders for class. The external pocket on the outer flap is big in terms of vertical space but lacks in depth. If you pack the bag out you might be able to get your ID, small wallet, mobile phone or keys in the pocket but not much else. There are two decent sized water bottle pouches on the sides. They will hold standard 16oz water bottles and you can get a 24oz Contigo in the pockets without much concern.

The straps are not long enough or comfortable enough if you have heavier items in the bag. Overall construction seems a little weak. The best feature I found in the bag was the pen holders. There are two and they are made from an elastic material. The remainder of the “organization panel” is unimpressive.

In the end, there are better products on the market for the same price.
