I needed a bag to hold all of my equipment- this one does it.
Loads of pockets for small stuff; plenty of room for the bigger stuff (flash bracket, flash diffusers); well padded and protected.
I was able to get everything in there and there was still a little bit of room for more! In the main compartment I have my Nikon D7000 with a 55-300mm lens on it, a 18-55mm lens, flash unit, lens hood, two “tupperware” style flash diffusers; and other small accessories. The other pockets hold chargers, cords, cleaning supplies, batteries, etc.
Quality seems excellent thus far- zippers have held up to my stressing them while trying to organize everything efficiently (too many choices of where to put everything!) It does take a while to get at your equipment for all the buckles and zippers, but I’d rather be safe than sorry! This isn’t a bag for those spontaneous shots…
Fully loaded, it’s a tad weighty, but the shoulder straps are padded and provide plenty of support. I walked on the beach with it and had no problems carrying it.
The high contrast yellow interior is great for finding your stuff, and the built in “raincoat” is fantastic in case of that sudden downpour.
So if you have a smaller range of equipment, this bag is superb! I’d go with the larger size if you have a lot of different pieces.
I’m very pleased with this bag!

I purchased this bag because I was looking for a do-it-all pack. First off, this bag has the removable camera section like the 2000, so when you have stuffed all of your photo gear into the very well padded photo section, that whole case zips up and can be removed from the bag leaving you a space for clothes etc. The laptop section is supposed to fir up to a 14 inch laptop, but my laptop is only 12 inches so I can’t confirm that either way. It does fit the 12 with room to spare though. The flat pockets on all of the flaps are great for single cables and filters, anything that can be folded up pretty flat. I’m carrying in the photo section

Nikon D7000 with battery grip and a 35mm prime attached
    Sigma 17-50 f/2.8
    Sigma 10-20 f/3.5
Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 with lens hood attached
An SB flash and fold up diffuser
    A Canon AVCHD camcorder
2 extra nikon batteries and charger
    12 16GB SDHC cards

In the rest of the bag I have
Acer Aspire TimelineX 1830T with charger
    G-Drive mini
    tons of cables
    8 port USB hub
Apple ipad charger (High current and it’s very small)
Nook color in a folio case or a 10 inch Asus Transformer depending on where Im going
    various tools (leatherman, screwdrivers, etc)
    glasses
    3 port power strip
various emergency medications (large ones like epi-pens)

On the outside I can easily attach my monopod and a full size water bottle and still stay within FAA regulations. As other people have mentioned, don’t expect to get into this bag in under 3 seconds, but a thief can’t get in that fast either. Everything is well padded and the rain cover is a snap to deploy. The removable photo section was the whole reason I purchased this bag but I’m very pleased with how it’s working out.

I wanted a backpack to carry my camera and accessories and the reviews of the APE Case sounded like exactly right. I debated over the 1800, 1900 and 2000 but settled on the 1900 because it was sized to be a carry-on with the airlines. The first isue that I ran into was my Canon T1i with the battery grip was too tall to fit into the case in the normal mode with the base of the camera against the back of the case and the lens facing the bottom. When I say that it was too tall, you could close the case but the flash hood I was worried about putting too much pressure on the pop-up flash so I load the camera with the lens sitting up. Other then that, I love the case it is very confortable to wear as a matter of fact I have done some jogging with it along. The only other thing that I wish this one had that the larger ones do is the zip out pouch on the side for holding a tripod. I don’t like trying to strap the tripod under the back pack. If you are looking for a confortable backpack for your equipment, I would highly recommend the APE CASES. Final note, first trip with the case flying was on the small regional jets and the 1900 won’ fit into the overhead but you could squeeze it under the seat. There is nothing like a full size plane.
